ABERARGIE SINGLE MALT SCOTCH WHISKY “INAUGURAL RELEASE” Welcome to Aberargie
All for the love of whisky. With the Inaugural Release, Morrison Scotch Whisky Destillers presents the first single malt Scotch whisky from the Aberargie Distillery – and from the very beginning relies on an uncompromising philosophy of origin. Located on the border between the Highlands and Lowlands, a whisky is created here that is fully managed on site – from growing the barley to bottling. In November 2017, the first drop of new make ran from the still, and we had to wait over 8 years until Brian and Jamie Morrison and their team finally said: This is good enough for a Morrison whisky! The barley comes 100% from the estate's own 300 acre farm. The mash bill used was 52% Golden Promise and 48% Laureate. Maturation took place in a combination of first-fill bourbon and sherry casks, creating a balanced house style with a clear structure. Bottled at 48.2% vol., naturally non-chill filtered and w ithout added colouring, this Inaugural Release stands for transparency and artisanal precision. The distinctive bottle with embossed details, individual glass shape, and leather neck tag underlines the distillery's agricultural roots and independent ambition.

Every detail tells a story: the embossed lettering, the individually designed glass, the leather neck tag as a reminder of its agricultural origins, as well as the fine horizon line that recalls the gentle hills around the barley fields. This bottle is far more than packaging – it is the first visible expression of Aberargie, even before the whisky itself makes its debut.

Aberargie consistently follows a "barley-to-bottle" philosophy. For the Inaugural Release, the barley comes entirely from the estate's own 300 acre farm – 52% Golden Promise and 48% Laureate. Maturation took place in a combination of first-fill bourbon and sherry casks. It was bottled at 48.2% vol., not chill-filtered and
w ithout colouring. The result is a clearly defined house style, developed independently from the ground up.

Aromatically, baked apple and golden pastry notes appear, followed by sultanas and dried plums. A delicate herbal note ensures a lasting, balanced finish.

Located on the border between the Highlands and Lowlands, Aberargie is shaped equally by its agricultural origins and artisanal distilling expertise. As a family-run, independent distillery, the team manages every step of production on site – from growing the barley through distillation and maturation to bottling. This holistic approach gives the whisky its clear identity.

Aberargie Inaugural Release Single Malt Scotch Whisky

As one of Scotland's oldest whisky families, the Morrisons have had a strong presence on Islay for five generations. Mac-Talla, which means "echo" in Scottish Gaelic, perfectly reflects the Morrison family's connection with Islay, to which they return again and again to the famous whisky island. Let them take you on a flavour journey across the island and discover the depth and diversity this perfect whisky-making environment has to offer. Every whisky in the Mac-Talla range has been shaped by the weather-beaten coasts of Islay. Not chill-filtered and w ithout added colouring, it is a taste of the untamed that leaves a lasting impression.

The Morrison family is back in the distillery business again. After the Morrison family, represented by Brian Morrison, sold the whisky distilleries Bowmore, Auchentoshan and Glan Garioch to Suntory in the mid-1990s, they are now re-entering the whisky scene as distillery operators. Mactalla str
