Shipping:
How long will my package take?
In Germany 1-3 days. In Europe 2-10 days. To Asia and the USA 10-20 days.
Can I have it sent to a Packstation?
Due to the many complaints and unbelievable confusion, we decided not to do this anymore and have therefore written in many places that we do not deliver to Packstations.
Why is my package being returned?
The reason for this can be damage, an incorrect address, or the driver could not find it, but it is also possible that the franked weight was exceeded.
Why is one of my bottles missing ?
Since most customers only ever order one bottle, in rare cases habit can take over and instead of packing two bottles, only one is packed. In that case, simply take photos with your mobile phone and send them via the WhatsApp button at the bottom right.
What should I do if the package is already damaged?
Definitely accept it and do not refuse acceptance, because otherwise the goods will be returned, which in turn causes delays and sometimes even more goods get damaged. So please accept the goods and take photos of the respective damage and simply send them, for example via WhatsApp. This works great with a mobile phone because you do not have to upload or forward anything, etc.
Who delivers fastest in Germany?
At Rumx, inn-out-shop has an average delivery time within Germany of 2.2 days including weekends. However, this is not a guarantee, as regional fluctuations do or can occur.
Packaging:
Why does the packaging sometimes look used?
We try to work as sustainably as possible, and why should we not then use a used box or the manufacturer's box. We also sometimes receive shipping cartons from importers or other retailers, which we of course reuse.
We actually use almost all packaging material that reaches us for repackaging and in doing so protect the environment.
Prices:
How do I see my price for my country?
Simply select the delivery country and your language at the flags at the top and your correct prices will then be displayed immediately.
Why are different taxes charged in different countries and when does a retailer have to remit them and how? (OSS procedure)
For reasons of fairness, the EU decided that retailers are obliged to calculate the VAT of the recipient country and must then remit it to the recipient country via a central office. This way, countries from which a lot is ordered in Germany also get back the money that would otherwise have flowed out. This is called the OSS procedure.
Why do different countries have different prices?
Because of the different VAT rates in the EU delivery countries that inn-out has to pass on. For example, outside the EU no VAT is due at all. That can then vary for an item, for example, from 100-125 Euro.
Why does it first show me one price and later a different one at checkout? or
Why does the price change if I do not specify my delivery country and then go to checkout?
Google always shows the most popular link and not the most sensible one. This means that if many people from Taiwan, for example, view a certain product, it shows the link for the delivery country Taiwan. However, inn-out has the setting to ask about a different delivery country if necessary, and the customer should also choose their delivery country there because of the different VAT rates of the delivery countries that inn-out has to pass on. For example, outside the EU no VAT is due at all. That can then vary for an item, for example, from 100-125 Euro. Or you can set it yourself at the top by the flags straight away and thus have all prices as they will be at the end at checkout.
Why do some limited-edition rarity products fluctuate so much in price?
It is like the stock market, where demand regulates things and, especially at inn-out, the dynamic determines the price. This means that in pre-sale a product can be much cheaper, or it can also become much cheaper after release if expected sales do not turn out as expected. Or a competitor then runs a promotional price because they are afraid of having too much stock. Then Inn-out has to match the price if it also has a lot of stock. It can also happen that if the sales dynamic explodes, Inn-out tries to reorder the goods but the original retailer has no more stock, while another retailer, such as a non-importer, can still supply goods but at much higher prices. Then Inn-out has to pass on the higher purchase price immediately. But if later demand suddenly stalls and Inn-out again has too much stock, the price moves back in the other direction. This then continues until again not much is left in stock and/or not much is available in the market. Then prices go to the limit of what customers are willing to pay for it. What helps against this? Simply buy in pre-sale and sit back and enjoy the service of Inn-out, receiving your goods at release without fluctuations, without further effort and searching, and without fear of missing out. Delivered on time and well packed. Many people use the service who are very busy because then they do not have to worry about anything.
Why does Google show incorrect or no prices in its advertising?
Due to the amount of data, Google cannot pull all changing data live, and therefore updates there take 7-40 days depending on importance from Google's point of view.
Fees, duties and taxes:
As a company (B2B) outside Germany, can I buy from Inn-out-shop without VAT?
As a company, you can never settle the VAT of another country with your own tax office. That means if you do not buy B2B in another EU country, you are stuck with the paid foreign VAT and are therefore around 20 percent more expensive in purchasing.
Therefore, at Inn-out-shop you can very easily enter your VAT ID at checkout and then you will already see your prices without VAT. However, it is always advisable to let us know briefly after you have filled everything out so that there are no problems with invoicing, although the company Sevdesk has also promised improvement soon.
Will there be additional fees, taxes or duties for me?
The price shown at checkout always includes the correct VAT for the delivery country and the applicable shipping costs. This means there are no additional fees or VAT for that. Within the EU there are definitely no additional costs because within the EU neither customs duties nor further consumer taxes apply. For non-EU customers it MAY be different. Depending on the delivery country, customs duties, customs clearance costs and consumer taxes may apply. Experience shows that the UK is the strictest. It is like that both inbound and outbound. It also depends on the shipping service provider and how inn-out writes the customs declaration and in what amount. We recommend simply asking before purchase. For example, delivery to the USA and UK. Some countries have a litre limit and some according to alcohol content, while others further north have extreme alcohol tax that is not charged 99% of the time.
Investment:
Are limited-edition spirits rarities a good investment?
Limited-edition spirit rarities can be a highly profitable investment, but they are based on an extremely speculative niche market with considerable risks. While rare bottles have at times achieved astronomical increases in value of several hundred percent in the past according to industry indices such as the Knight Frank Luxury Investment Index, the market has cooled significantly. Major corporations are reporting declines in sales and experts speak of a phase of market calming in which "artificially inflated" special editions are losing a lot of value. An investment therefore only makes sense if you know the market well and proceed systematically.
true to the motto invest only in things you understand.
What makes a bottle a real investment asset?
Is it worth investing in rarities?
it depends on the limitation, age statements, and bottle numbering,
does a spirit always increase in value?
Basically only limited-edition spirits increase in value, but not all of them. It depends on the name of the distillery, the rarity such as inaugural releases, whether the distillery has closed, and many other factors.
Storage & shelf life:
How do I store limited-edition spirit rarities correctly?
Always store limited-edition spirit rarities upright in a cool, dark place with a constant temperature. Unlike wine, the high alcohol content breaks down the cork if stored lying down, and UV light destroys the delicate aromas. Also protect the original packaging from high humidity in order to preserve collector value.
The most important rules for preserving value. Store upright: Never lay them down. Otherwise the strong alcohol eats away at the cork and ruins the taste. Protect from light: Store in the dark or leave in the original packaging, as UV rays bleach labels and damage the contents. Constant temperature: Ideally 15 °C to 20 °C. Avoid warm rooms or strong temperature fluctuations. Dry environment: Air that is too humid causes mold on labels and cartons, which destroys resale value. Keep an eye on the cork: Natural corks can shrink after years. Check the fill level so that no alcohol evaporates.
Can whisky, rum and other spirits go bad?
High-proof spirits such as Whisky, rum, vodka or gin do not go bad or become harmful to health in the classic sense, because the high alcohol content of at least 35 to 40 percent reliably prevents the growth of bacteria and germs. However, flavor, color and aroma can change or dissipate over months to years after opening or if stored incorrectly due to contact with oxygen (oxidation) and evaporation. Shelf life at a glance. Unopened spirits (whisky, rum, brandy): Indefinitely shelf-stable, as long as they are kept cool and dark and the seal is tight. They do not continue to mature in the glass bottle. Opened spirits (high alcohol content ≥ 40%): Practically indefinitely safe to drink, but optimally in terms of taste for approx. 6 to 24 months (the smaller the remaining content in the bottle, the faster the aromas escape due to oxygen). Liqueurs & cream-based spirits (under 30% ABV or with egg/cream): Limited shelf life (cream liqueurs often only a few weeks to months after opening) and should be stored in the refrigerator. What you should pay attention to when storing Store upright: Unlike wine, bottles with natural corks should always stand upright. Over time, the high-proof alcohol would break down the cork and ruin the taste. Cool and dark: Direct sunlight and strong temperature fluctuations damage the aromas and let the alcohol evaporate faster. Pay attention to the fill level: If an opened bottle is only filled a small amount, the large oxygen space causes the taste to become "flat" or stale after a few months. Transferring it into a smaller bottle helps here.
How long does an opened bottle of whisky, rum, gin or tequila last?
Does liqueur need to go in the refrigerator after opening?
most liqueurs should be kept in the refrigerator after opening or at least stored very cool. Since liqueurs have less alcohol than pure whisky or rum (often under 30% ABV) and instead a lot of sugar as well as easily perishable ingredients, they are susceptible to germs and loss of quality. Which liqueur goes where? Definitely in the refrigerator (shelf life: approx. 2-6 months): Cream liqueurs (e.g. Baileys) Egg liqueurs (e.g. Verpoorten) Fruit juice-based liqueurs (e.g. limoncello or liqueurs with real fruit juice). A cool, dark pantry is sufficient (shelf life: approx. 6-12 months): Clear, sugar-stable liqueurs (e.g. Cointreau) Herbal liqueurs (e.g. Jägermeister, Ramazzotti - high alcohol and herbal content protect them) Nut and spice liqueurs (e.g. Amaretto - but they often taste better chilled). Three golden rules for opened liqueurs are: Keep the bottle neck clean: Wipe off sticky sugar residue on the thread after pouring. Otherwise bacteria settle there quickly despite the alcohol. The smell and visual test: If cream or egg liqueur becomes lumpy, separates heavily, or smells sour, dispose of it. Store upright: Otherwise the sugar can glue the closure so tightly that the bottle hardly opens anymore or the cap gets damaged.
Can cream liqueur expire and curdle?
Cream liqueur can both expire and curdle. Since it contains real dairy cream, unlike clear spirits it has a genuine expiration date and is prone to spoilage. Why does cream liqueur curdle? Curdling is the clearest sign that the liqueur is no longer fit for consumption. There are two main reasons for this: Acid reaction: If the liqueur gets too old, bacteria multiply, or it is mixed with acidic drinks (e.g. fruit juice or tonic water), the milk protein in the cream curdles and forms lumps. Incorrect storage: Too much warmth or direct sunlight causes the fat in the cream to separate from the alcohol. Shelf life after opening In the refrigerator: After opening, cream liqueur keeps well chilled for about 2 to a maximum of 6 months. Unopened: Even unopened bottles almost always have a best-before date (BBD). They usually keep for 1 to 2 years from production. The freshness check before drinking Before pouring an older bottle, check these three characteristics: Appearance: The liqueur must be a homogeneous, creamy liquid. Visible lumps, flakes or an oily layer on the surface mean: down the drain. Smell: Does the liqueur smell sour, rancid or strongly of stale milk instead of cocoa, vanilla or whiskey? Then it is spoiled. Taste: If it tastes sour or burns unpleasantly on the finish (apart from the normal alcohol), do not continue drinking it.
How much influence does the spirit cask have on the contents?
The wooden cask has an enormous influence on the contents: In aged spirits such as whisky, rum, cognac or aged tequila, between 60 and 80 percent of the final flavor and nearly 100 percent of the natural color come from the cask alone. A fresh distillate comes out of the still crystal clear and often sharp. Only the cask transforms it into a complex spirit. The three main functions of the cask are subtraction (filtration): The usually charred inner side of the cask acts like an activated carbon filter. It removes unwanted sharp sulfur compounds and impurities from the distillate. Addition (release of aromas): The wood releases substances into the liquid. Vanillin creates vanilla notes, lactones bring coconut aromas, tannins provide structure and wood spice, and wood moisture contributes caramel and toasted notes. Oxidation (breathing): Wood is porous. Minimal oxygen enters through the pores, while alcohol and water evaporate (the so-called "Angels' Share" or angel's share, approx. 1.5 to 3 % per year). This process makes the spirit mild and rounded. Which factors determine the taste? The type of wood: Oak is almost always used. American white oak provides lots of vanilla and sweetness, European oak brings significantly more bitter tannins, dryness and spice. The previous filling: Casks are expensive, which is why they are often reused. A whisky matured in a former bourbon cask tastes completely different (sweet, vanilla, honey) from one from a sherry cask (dark fruit, chocolate, nut) or port wine cask. The toasting (charring): How strongly the cask was ignited on the inside changes the chemistry of the wood. Light toasting emphasizes fruit notes, strong charring brings intense smoke, coffee and roasted notes. The climate: In Scotland, whisky matures very slowly over decades because of the cold. In the Caribbean (rum) or in Kentucky (bourbon), tropical heat ensures extremely fast maturation, as the wood expands in warmth and virtually sucks in the liquid.
How do you store unopened spirits correctly?
Unopened spirits are best stored cool, dark, upright and dry. Since high-proof alcohol does not continue to mature in the sealed glass bottle, storage is purely about perfectly preserving the current condition over decades.
The 4 most important storage rules are Always store upright: Unlike wine, spirit bottles should never lie down. The high alcohol content (from 40% ABV) attacks the natural cork over time, breaks down the wood and ruins the taste of the spirit. In addition, a degraded cork no longer seals tightly. Keep absolutely dark: UV light is alcohol's greatest enemy. Within just a few months, sunlight bleaches the natural color and destroys sensitive flavor components. Use dark rooms, cupboards or the original packaging (box/tube). Constant, cool temperatures: A normal living space is usually too warm. Temperatures between 15 °C and 18 °C are ideal (e.g. in the cellar or an unheated pantry). Great heat increases the pressure in the bottle and lets the alcohol evaporate faster through the cork. Dry environment: Humidity should be moderate. If the room is too damp (as in some laundry cellars), labels and corks go moldy on the outside. Special protection for long-term collectors: Use Parafilm: If you want to store away a valuable bottle for many years or decades, wrap Parafilm (a stretchable laboratory wax tape) tightly around the bottle neck and cork. This stops the minimal, gradual evaporation through the closure. Cork care: Turn the upright bottle upside down briefly once or twice a year so that the cork is moistened from the inside with liquid. This prevents the wood from drying out completely, shrinking and becoming leaky.
Does alcohol content decrease in an opened bottle?
an opened bottle loses alcohol content, but this happens extremely slowly and only under certain conditions. The alcohol content does not drop suddenly, but gradually over months and years through evaporation. Why does the alcohol content decrease? Alcohol evaporates faster than water: Pure alcohol (ethanol) has a significantly lower boiling point and volatilizes much faster into the air than the water contained in the spirit. The exchange when opening: Every time you open the bottle to pour yourself a drink, the alcohol vapor that has already evaporated inside the bottle escapes into the room. New air flows in, and the process starts all over again. A large empty space accelerates the loss: If the bottle is almost empty (e.g. only 20% filled), there is a lot of oxygen in the bottle. More alcohol evaporates into this free space, which accelerates the loss. How many percent do you lose? With a normal spirit (such as whisky or rum at 40% ABV) that is well sealed and drunk within one to two years, the loss is minimal and barely noticeable to humans in taste (often well under 1% difference). However, if an almost empty bottle is forgotten for 5 to 10 years, the alcohol content can drop so much that the spirit tastes noticeably "milder," flatter, or even stale. How to stop alcohol loss: Seal the bottle tightly: Always press corks or screw caps closed as tightly as possible. Store cool: The warmer the bottle is kept, the more active the alcohol molecules are and the faster they evaporate. Transfer: If only a small amount remains in the bottle, transfer it into a smaller glass container. Less air space means less evaporation.

Customs clearance and shipping to non-EU countries
what does the retailer do for me? customs form and its effects
is a tax refund possible without prior agreement?
is not possible! In non-EU countries it is also not necessary because no German tax is charged.
how do you use Switzerland Czech Republic "border package" ?
there are some customers for whom it is apparently worthwhile to have delivery made to a special parcel company near their own border (companies offering this include, for example, Grenzpaket)
and collect the goods there themselves and drive them home in the trunk. In special cases, it can be worthwhile to use the German free shipping from 150 Euro, but then you have to pay the 19% German VAT, whereas for delivery for example to Switzerland this tax is not included, but higher shipping costs are added as well as low Swiss VAT but not insignificant alcohol tax.

Can I order goods to a hotel?
There are people who have their desired bottles delivered to their hotel for a longer holiday. Here too, the VAT of the holiday country must be taken into account and the savings in shipping costs weighed against it. Of course, delivery would then be much faster if you use Germany or its nearby neighboring countries. It makes absolute sense for, for example, Nordic countries vacationing in Rostock (not far by ferry). There are also many Koreans who go skiing in the Czech Republic. But for short vacations, it should be noted that you never know exactly how long DHL will take to deliver. That would then require intensive preparation, such as definitely asking the hotel BEFOREHAND whether they agree to this.
What is the best rum?
A distinction is made between molasses and agricole, i.e. rum made from direct sugar cane sugar. These are then again differentiated by ester content (if high then shoe glue, thinner, bicycle tube and similar notes. There are many fans of the latter because these are not found very often. So it depends on taste and experience. But the products from inn-out-shop are already pre-selected in such a way that you usually cannot go wrong with their products.
What is the best whisky?
Here too, it depends on experience and taste. With whisky, a distinction is made between peaty, medium peaty and little to non-peated. But the products from inn-out-shop are already pre-selected in such a way that you usually cannot go wrong with their products.

Compare the best providers for whisky rarities with a focus on limited bottlings?
When buying whisky rarities and strictly limited special bottlings, the provider landscape differs fundamentally from traditional retail. Because limited editions such as official vintage releases, single casks from closed distilleries (Ghost Distilleries) or exclusive store picks often exist only in the low hundreds, different providers have specialized in certain segments of the rarity market.
Among them, inn-out-shop is always found very high up. There are three segments of limited bottlings:
Independent bottlers: Specialists such as Carn more, Cadenheads, old malt cask or curated niche shops such as inn-out-shop buy casks directly from the distilleries or from The Stillman. They bottle them without coloring, usually at cask strength and unfiltered. Here you will find the best price-performance ratio for pure taste.
Official special editions (Original Bottlings): Distilleries themselves release limited bottlings - often with elegant packaging for collectors (e.g. Mac-Talla Limited Editions or Springbank including Handfilleds). Large specialist retailers such as inn-out-shop receive the largest allocations here.
The secondary and auction market: Once a bottle is sold out in normal retail, it moves to trading platforms such as Whiskybase or international auction houses. Here supply and demand determine the current daily collector value. But it is noticeable that inn-out-shop still has sought-after older bottles available for the longest time, albeit at a somewhat higher price.
