Nose: subtle aromas of sweet almonds and frangipane cream. Very floral with a hint of toasted bread

Taste: an open and direct attack presents spices and then notes of almonds to soften the whole. Aromas of sugarcane and caramel transform on the tongue into tart fruit notes of mango and papaya

Finish: balanced, with fruit brandy and a touch of bitterness with woody notes; a delicious aroma of toasted bread that will certainly leave you wanting more!

Eight years seems surprisingly young for a Guyana Single Cask Rum - but this bottling really packs an aromatic punch.

Of the once hundreds of rum producers in Guyana, today only Diamond Distillers Limited remains, and it is also responsible for this eight-year-old single cask. However, the distillery has made it its mission to unite under one roof the styles and, above all, the sometimes almost historic distillation apparatus of the other Guyana distilleries. Probably the oldest of these is the Port Mourant Still, which is also where this rum comes from.

Attentive rum fans already know this, but beginners are repeatedly puzzled when, alongside the abbreviation "DDL" for Diamond Distillers Limited, there is also a

different name on the label of a Guyana bottling. In most cases, this stands for one of the many stills that the company acquired from closed distilleries; probably the oldest of these is the 250-year-old Port Mourant, a very special Double Wodden Pot Still whose rums are considered particularly funky.

This rum impresses with unrestrained notes of sugarcane, caramel, and estery touches. On the palate, this turns into exotic fruits, especially mango and papaya, accompanied by tart impressions and a light bitterness that is thoroughly pleasant. What this 8-year-old rum may lack in complexity compared to some older Guyana rums, it makes up for with power.

This distillery brings together all the old artisanal distillates of the region and continues to combine traditional distillation methods with modern technologies to produce world-renowned rums.
