Longrow 15y red Pinot Noir Cask 0,7l 51,4% vol. Scotland Campbeltown
Nose: Creamy and fruity on the nose, with notes of custard, bramble jelly, red apples and cherries. The Longrow character presents itself in smoky embers, along with hints of toffee and butterscotch.
Palate: The smokiness continues on the palate and tannin flavours develop, balanced with sweet confectionery, cranberry and raspberry in this smooth, delicate malt.
Finish: With briny, maritime elements and the persistence of the smoky embers, the Campbeltown influence is particularly apparent in the finish.
Longrow: Intensely smoky and strongly peated: Longrow is the successful experiment of Springbank chairman Hedley Wright, who produced a Malt in the Islay style on the mainland in 1973 – the result is a whisky rarity that has been bottled once a year since 1989. Longrow passes through the stills twice and is unmistakable for its strong smoky note, created by the two-day malting with Islay peat. By the way, Longrow Single Malt comes from a different lineage: the former Longrow Distillery was founded as early as 1824 by John Beith & Co., but closed its doors again after just a little more than 70 years. In 1973, the legend was brought back to life here and Longrow was produced again for the first time according to an old secret recipe.
