Studying the influence of casks on single malt whisky is Billy Walker's life's work. The industry veteran is particularly dedicated to the phenomenon in the Wood Finish Series. The range consists of innovative bottlings that the GlenAllachie Master Blender perfects in puncheons, pipes, and similar casks, often from smaller producers around the world. His The GlenAllachie 13 y.o. – Oloroso Wood Finish was bottled exclusively for the German market.
 
The noble single malt, with its rich mahogany hue, developed classic vanilla and spice notes in first- and second-fill American white oak casks. Finished in Oloroso sherry puncheons, the dark exclusive bottling indulges the palate with a distinctive, full-bodied flavor profile that highlights the GlenAllachie character with cinnamon and coffee as well as dried and candied fruits.

Together, the trio at the head of The GlenAllachie can look back on almost 100 years of experience in the whisky business: the key figure is Billy Walker, former owner of BenRiach, Glendronach, and Glenglassaugh. Together with his team partners, he decided to leave behind large corporations and bureaucracy, tight budget constraints, and heavy financial pressure. The distillers' goal: to make outstanding single malt Scotch whisky – completely free and independent in their decisions, crafted by Scottish hands and with plenty of fun and passion.

Founded in 1967, The GlenAllachie Distillery was for a long time owned by foreign corporations. In 2017, The GlenAllachie Distillers Company bought the distillery in Speyside – including the filled casks in the warehouse. Its new owners: the long-established Scottish whisky authority Billy Walker and his partners Trisha Savage and Graham Stevenson. The new team was introduced to the distillery's special features by long-serving employees. Among them: the distillery has four stills and two separate spirit safes – and can therefore produce two different distillates in parallel, for example peated and unpeated new make.

Until now, The GlenAllachie Distillery produced almost exclusively for blended whiskies. Single malt, on the other hand, was extremely rare, for example through independent bottlers. This changed in 2017 with the takeover by Billy Walker's team. Age statements are important to The GlenAllachie for its single malts: the core range consists of a 10, 12, 18, and 25-year-old whisky. In addition, regular single cask and special bottlings are planned – and from 2018, even a peated whisky.
