The Work of Human Hands – Springbank and its associated sister distillery Kilkerran produce their single malts 100% by hand, traditionally, and on site in Campbeltown. As a result of the original methods, only limited production capacities are available. Each Campbeltown Single Malt Whisky from the Springbank family J. & A. Mitchell & Co. Ltd reveals its own style through different distillation stages and levels of smoke. Kilkerran is a lightly peated, double-distilled single malt that is bottled without coloring and without chill filtration.  The Glengyle distillery was founded in 1873 by William Mitchell and produced a typical Campbeltown malt before it apparently closed its doors for good in 1925. Then in 2004 it reopened again — once more through the descendants of the Mitchells. Since then, lightly peated whiskies have been produced here under the Kilkerran label. The malt is sourced from the sister distillery Springbank.
