The Isle of Arran is both breathtakingly beautiful and unique. With its mountains, lowlands, glens, lakes, and royal castles, it embodies the full landscape of Scotland and is affectionately called "Scotland in miniature".
The Isle of Arran distillery was built in 1994 at the foot of the village of Lochranza. On June 29, 1995, the first alcohol flowed from the stills, bringing legal distillation back to Arran after more than 150 years. This distillery was the first in a new generation of distilleries in the 1990s. Since that day in June 1995, when the first cask was filled, Arran has been producing first-class unpeated Single Malt Whisky, which has gained international recognition through numerous gold medals.
The latest chapter in its whisky history on the island began in June 2019, when its second distillery in Lagg in the south of Arran opened its doors to the public and began producing heavily peated whisky in the distinctive Arran style. Almost 25 years after the whisky distillery in Lochranza started operations, Isle of Arran Distillers are now the proud owners and operators of two very different and unique distilleries on the Isle of Arran.
