The art of double sherry finishing

In the heart of Speyside, on the banks of the River Lour, Aberlour Distillery has followed the legacy of its founder James Fleming since 1879. For this bottling, the distillery's craftspeople use an elaborate process: the whisky first matures for at least 18 years before receiving a final finish in first-fill Pedro Ximénez- and Oloroso sherry casks . This combination of American oak and the two different sherry types gives the distillate its distinctive complexity. The design of the bottle and the cylindrical outer packaging in deep brown with golden accents and the embossed tree motif underscores the artisanal ambition of this limited batch.

A bouquet of dark fruits and fine spice

In the clear glass bottle, the whisky presents itself in a natural, rich amber tone achieved entirely without the addition of colouring. On the nose, a rich interplay of dried raisins and figs unfolds, gently underscored by toffee and a hint of vanilla. On the palate, this Single Malt is balanced and entirely free of peat smoke; instead, juicy berry fruits and a delicate nuttiness dominate. The finish is long-lasting and elegant, with notes of dark chocolate and a hint of cinnamon bringing it to a close.

With an alcohol content of 43% vol., this Aberlour is a wonderful example of a fully matured Speyside whisky that remains approachable despite its intensity.
