Collection: Mezan Brand Rum
Traveling the Caribbean region, tasting exotic rum, and creating fine bottlings. These are the three main tasks that the cellar master of Mezan has to manage. Although all of this sounds so enviable that one would love to slip into the role of the master, it is indeed a challenge that the good man has to fulfill here. The cellar master searches the Caribbean islands only for the most valuable, exotic, and exquisite drops for his creations. This also includes hunting for legendary bottlings from distilleries that are no longer in operation. Only after all these specialities have been examined in detail does the cellar master decide for or against the cask that tries to enchant with its contents. The selection is not always easy, because only the creations that can achieve the best aging potential are also married to Mezan Rum. However, care is always taken to ensure that the individual character is not distorted. That is why not a single Mezan Rum is enriched with additional sugar, colored with dyes, or chill-filtered.
An operation from England is responsible for this, which has made it its mission to acquire some of the finest rums from the Caribbean and Latin America, partly subject them to further aging, and make them accessible to connoisseurs. This gives Mezan Rum that certain something that makes connoisseurs' hearts beat faster. Mezan Rum even partly comes from distilleries that have since had to close and, thanks to the premium rums, have a chance to continue living on. This applies, for example, to Uitvlugt Rum, which was sourced from a closed distillery in Guyana. The range is particularly focused on this country, because where once more than 200 rum distilleries fought a fierce battle for international recognition, today not even a handful remain. The aged, charismatic vintage bottling from 1998 impresses with a seductive blend of fruit and sweetness. It is just as tropical and exotic as many other Mezan Rums. Comparable to this is the Enmore 1990, which also comes from Guyana and shows its creamy, smoky, herbal spicy side. Furthermore, Mezan Rum is associated with the Hampden 2000 from the Caribbean island of Jamaica, which does its homeland proud. Spicy, strong, nutty, and full of extraordinary nuances, this premium rum makes collectors' hearts beat faster. Together with another Mezan Rum from Jamaica as well as rum from Grenada and Trinidad, it appeals to all the senses and justifies the importer’s effort. It would be a great pity if such exclusive enjoyment experiences were to be forgotten.
