Spring is approaching, and many visitors are drawn to the Victorian whisky capital of Campbeltown, where the Campbeltown Malts Festival takes place every year. This year, Glen Scotia delights with a 9-year-old Heavily Peated Ribera Del Duero Finish. This is a special release, as Glen Scotia only produces peated barley for about 4 weeks a year and Ribera del Duero is one of the most prestigious wine-growing regions. strictly limited..  The launch of this year's Festival Edition will take place at the end of March.

In the north of Spain lies the renowned Spanish wine-growing region Ribera Del Duero DOP, where mainly Tempranillo grapes are cultivated. This region is known for its powerful, dark-fruited, full-bodied red wines, which thrive under extreme weather conditions with hot summers and harsh winters. We are delighted to introduce a new festival rarity from the Campbeltown distillery Glen Scotia, which stands out in particular due to the rare availability of peated whisky.  The single malt was bottled at cask strength of 53.4% vol., non-chill filtered, and comes in a natural intense colour. The packaging of this limited edition appears strikingly in berry wine tones and invites everyone to celebrate the festival together! Original Tasting Notes: A distinctive maritime character is overlaid with peat smoke, giving a spirit truly representative of the Glen Scotia distillery character. The finish develops the once tropical notes into ripe red fruit, juicy blackberry and a whisper of liquorice, each layer adding depth to its complex character. 

The Glen Scotia distillery is located on the Kintyre peninsula, more precisely in Campbeltown. In 1832, the distillery was founded by Steward, Galbraith & Co. under the name Scotia Distillery and has since had an eventful history. 
With its vibrant setting and the rough Atlantic breeze, this coastal town has something magical about it. "Mull of Kintyre, oh mist rolling in from the sea, my desire is always to be here ..." Paul McCartney sings of the desire to always remain on this peninsula. Presumably, it is not only the mystical allure of the landscape that is a good reason for this - but also the unique single malt produced here.
