Jamaican rum is defined by history, traditions, and adaptations to new challenges. The High Ester rum as we know and love it today emerged from changing demand, new customs regulations, and the need to adapt – this has long shaped Jamaican rum. To this day, all distilleries on the island produce a variety of styles – from light to extremely flavorful and funky. Our Single Cask of Edition 62 comes from Hampden Distillery, which is often abbreviated as HD. The rum ranks among the second-highest ester marks of this great distillery, C<>H with an ester level of 1300-1400 gr/hL AA. This fine drop was distilled in June 2023 and has since matured in a freshly emptied Oloroso Sherry cask. The combination of ester and Oloroso is simply ideal and delivers full power, an indescribably intense fruitiness paired with harmonious sweetness and that certain something of funkiness. An absolute must for all Jamaica fans!
