Nose: Smoky peat meets tropical fruits such as pineapple and mango. Plus toffee, roasted plums, and dark dried fruits. Fine accents of fresh herbs, raisins, and figs add additional depth.

Palate: Citrus fruits and buttery toffee combine with dried pineapple and mango. The peat note is accompanied by black dates and candied plums. Woody hints as well as spice notes of cinnamon and cloves lead into the finish.

Finish: Long and warming with impressions of chocolate, coffee, and nuts.

With the Peatist series, Kavalan opens a new chapter and shows what skilful use of peat can look like under subtropical conditions. Instead of focusing on maximum smokiness, the distillery relies on balance: here, peat serves as an aromatic counterpoint, not a dominating force. The Kavalan Peatist Oloroso Sherry Cask is precisely matched to Taiwan’s climate and combines gentle smokiness with fruit richness and depth. Matured in selected Spanish Oloroso sherry casks from the classic Sherry Triangle, this bottling brings together the dark dried-fruit aromas typical of Oloroso with Kavalan’s characteristic tropical notes. The name Peatist is derived from “Peat” and the English suffix “-ist” and symbolises Kavalan’s ambition to reinterpret familiar flavour worlds and consciously push boundaries. As with the Solist series, both Peatist bottlings are always single casks at cask strength
