Palate: roasted agave, vanilla, sun-ripened tropical fruits, spices.  warm oak wood, pepper, cinnamon.

Finish: sweet agave, oak wood.

in memory of the founder of the La Primavera distillery, Don Julio González, and stands as a symbol of all the knowledge, hard work, and dedication that brought Don Julio Tequila to the top of the world. A  top product made with passion In our part of the world, not everyone may know the name Don Julio González. In Mexico, however, it is quite different. His life story reads like a Hollywood movie. After the early death of his father, Don Julio González had to support his family while still in his early teens. From farm laborer he rose to become a trader, traveling through the region with horse, cart, and barrels to sell his self-distilled tequila. This secured the family's livelihood, and before long the young González began making big plans. He borrowed money from a local wealthy man and built his own distillery in 1947. From then on there was no stopping him: González devoted himself entirely to tequila production, revised agave cultivation techniques, and with his tequilas succeeded in conquering the luxury segment. He even changed the previously popular and long-established bottle design. Instead of the usual tall, long-necked bottles, the La Primavera distillery chose to bottle its tequila in short, rounded bottles. Don Julio 1942, however, recalls the early years and therefore appears in the originally used tall bottles. Don Julio 1942: superb pleasure, well aged.  In 2002, Don Julio 1942 was released. A limited bottling offering the highest tequila enjoyment from creator Don Juan González. Maturation time. For 30 months, the  spirit, made from 100 percent agave, rests in American white oak barrels. This makes Don Julio 1942 one of the tequilas in the añejo category; with six more months of aging, it would be an extra añejo. However, this does nothing to diminish its uniqueness.
