Signatory Vintage is one of the major independent bottlers in Scotland. The company is based in the picturesque town of Pitlochry on the edge of the Highlands. As a renowned independent bottler, Signatory purchases casks from various distilleries across Scotland and stores them in its own warehouses. This has the great advantage that Signatory can freely decide the timing of the bottling. In Signatory’s warehouses, liquid treasures rest in well over 10,000 whisky casks! This allows the company, founded in Leith in 1988, to fully monitor and control the maturation of its Scotch whiskies. Only its own high quality standards determine the process. As an independent bottler of various Scotch whiskies, Signatory releases exclusive cask bottlings under its own name, thus enabling many fans to access distilleries that no longer release bottlings under their own label. The company’s own cask warehouse also holds a stock of bottlings from some distilleries that have either already closed or have been so popular for years that they no longer supply casks to independent bottlers. Some of these distilleries have had such strong demand for several years that they now release many bottlings only without an age statement, as the old stock often simply no longer has the required capacity. It is different with Signatory Vintage! Every bottling includes information about the distillation and bottling dates, the cask and bottle numbers, the type of cask, and whether it has been chill-filtered. Most of Signatory’s single malt whiskies are released as single cask bottlings or in small batches (blending a few casks). The owner, Andrew Symington, also acquired the charming Edradour Distillery in 2002, which is now also the home of Signatory Vintage. Signatory bottles its whiskies naturally. In the Signatory Un-Chillfiltered Collection, bottlings are made without chill filtration, and in the Cask Strength Collection, they are bottled at natural cask strength. The company completely refrains from adding coloring.
