Collection: The Real Mccoy Brand Rum

The Real McCoy Rum is based on the story of Captain Bill McCoy, a so-called rum runner from the Prohibition era. Around 1920, when strict alcohol prohibition was in effect in the USA, Bill McCoy began transporting rum from the Caribbean to the coast of New York. As a shrewd businessman, he sold his rum in international waters. This way, he did not break any American laws, and the buyers bore the risk. He became known for his high quality standards, as at that time he was one of the few (if not the only one) who did not dilute the rum with other liquids.

In memory of Bill McCoy, his tradition is continued today. The high quality standard is upheld by none other than Richard Seale, Master Distiller of the Foursquare Distillery in Barbados.

R.L. Seal is globally recognized for his outstanding work. He is not a fan of dishonest products. His bottlings stand for honest craftsmanship that is not sweetened, perfumed, colored, or otherwise extended.

Furthermore, its age statements regarding the products always correspond to the actual age and are therefore not blends with younger rum. Only different barrels from the same vintage are married together – hence the term Single Blended Rum (Single in this case stands for a vintage and Blended for the different barrels from that very vintage).
The Real McCoy is made from a combination of pot and column stills, with the dominant share always being pot still, which distinguishes it from other bottlings, and it matures between 3 and 12 years in ex-bourbon barrels. Exceptions are limited editions, for which maturation in, for example, Madeira barrels is often used.
