Longrow: Intensely smoky and heavily peated: Longrow is the successful experiment of Springbank chairman Hedley Wright, who produced an Islay-style malt on the mainland in 1973 – a whisky rarity was born, and since 1989 it has been bottled once a year. Longrow is distilled twice and has an unmistakably strong smoky note, created by the two-day malting with Islay peat. By the way, Longrow Single Malt comes from a different line: the former Longrow Distillery was founded in 1824 by John Beith & Co., but closed again after just over 70 years. In 1973, the legend was revived here and, using an old secret recipe, Longrow was produced again for the first time.
