Allt Gleann 46% Single Malt Whisky is the second release. Part of the distillery's Legacy Series. Produced in small batches of a maximum of thirty casks and 77 ppm.

Nose: fresh sea air with strong peat smoke.

Palate: robust character, maritime aromas of sea salt, seaweed and plenty of peat. 

Finish: very long and smoky

This year is marked by the eagerly awaited arrival of Torabhaig Single Malt Scotch Whisky. Its home, The Distillery at Torabhaig, is remarkable because it is only the second legal distillery ever to operate on the rocky, beautiful Isle of Skye - and the first new distillery to be built there in 190 years.

Skye has shaped both the buildings that were to become the distillery and, in turn, the single malt, and both have a depth in their history and craftsmanship that sets us apart from others. Our goal for Torabhaig Single Malt is to change the course of whisky making on the island by giving it a splash of diversity, vibrancy, and distinctive character.

A true product of its surroundings and heritage, shaped by the wild landscape and harsh climate of the Isle of Skye.

The building was first discovered as an abandoned but well-preserved farmstead that happened to be the perfect location for a distillery. The original buildings were constructed from stones taken from the nearby ruins of Camus Castle. A duty to preserve this history and bring the building back to life by creating something that is more than just a distillery. Over four years, the dilapidated buildings were painstakingly restored, during which we uncovered even more history, including the remains of an old mill wheel that we restored. It is now powered by the cool water of our stills. Now that we are fully operational and ready to launch our first single malt, we are proud to have created a true brand home with a real sense of place. Our persistence and attention to detail can now be devoted 100% to making whisky.

The new distillery set out to express the true essence of Torabhaig. Through relentless experimentation and dialogue, as well as applying our experience to every batch, we have developed a distinctive style: our own flavour profile, which we call Well-Tempered Peat, carefully balanced peat. Our team is devoted to crafting whisky for the discerning customer who appreciates the depth of peated whisky. Every batch we release is driven by the desire to delve deeper into the complexity of peat aroma in order to create a truly exceptional and balanced character.

"The Distillery at Torabhaig" is the second legally operating distillery on the picturesque Isle of Skye and the first new one to be built there in 190 years. The distillery, painstakingly established in Torabhaig, is undoubtedly a child of its surroundings. The aim of the restoration was to preserve the history of the original walls, built from stones from the nearby ruins of Camus Castle, and breathe new life into them. The result after four years of investment is more than a distillery - it is a home with history and tradition.
