Ghana has a growing rum scene with several distilleries producing exceptional spirits. Mim Cashew & Agricultural Products Ltd. is one of these exciting producers. The family-run organic cashew plantation in western Ghana produces first-class cashew nuts, cashew brandy, and the finest rum from fresh sugar cane juice. This special single cask rum was 2020 distilled in the 2,000-liter pot still. After arriving in Europe, it matured for four years in a former bourbon cask. The result is a lively, floral aroma, wonderfully complemented by woody notes and giving the rum a complex and rich flavor profile. This single cask rum was bottled at cask strength, preserving its full character without additives.

It began with RumClub Edition 14 "Nanny of the Maroons," the first rum from Ghana in our single cask series. A rum made from fresh sugar cane juice from Ghana, allowed to mature for one year in a bourbon cask. Afterwards, the rum was transferred to an HD cask, the cask in which Edition 17 had previously matured. In eight exciting months, a phenomenal Jamaica finish developed, making the rum unique once again! The number of bottles is strictly limited; 342 bottles were produced. Alongside his sister Nanny, Cudjoe was one of the most important figures as a symbol against slavery in the 17th and 18th centuries in Jamaica. He was a leading figure of the Maroons. The Maroons were a group of escaped slaves who waged a guerrilla war against the British colonial power. With Cudjoe as their leader, a peace agreement was concluded in 1739 between the Maroons and the colonial power, which even granted the Maroons rights of autonomy - a success that was unthinkable at the time! Thus, Cudjoe went down in the history books as one of the most successful fighters against slavery and remains a symbol of freedom to this day.  exotic from two continents and two different rum styles.  The Jamaican rum (high ester) made from molasses matured for one year in bourbon casks made of American white oak. And the African distillate, however Agricole (that is, from fermented sugar cane juice), for three months in ex-bourbon casks as a Ghanaian rarity.
