Speyside meets Andalusia.
Old Perth Bodega is a limited bottling with only 1,200 bottles worldwide. At 52.4% vol., in natural color and without chill filtration, it presents itself as an authentic blended malt Scotch whisky. Its name refers to the great sherry bodegas of Spain, and it is precisely this cask culture that shapes its character. Matured in an exclusive combination of Oloroso, Pedro Ximénez, and Palo Cortado sherry casks, it offers a complex interplay of aromas that delights sherry whisky lovers.
In the glass, it shines in a deep ruby red. On the nose, dark fruits, orange peel, and sweet syrup dominate, underpinned by spiced oak. On the palate, intense impressions of syrup cake, almonds, and hazelnuts unfold, rounded off with a hint of cinnamon. The texture is silky and the aromas show a clear depth that transitions into a warm, long-lasting finish. The secret of this blend is a robust proportion of whisky from Old Perth's historic 70-year-old solera casks, a treasure that hardly any Scottish distillery possesses. This extra touch gives the final product unique depth and character.
A whisky for special moments, honoring the tradition of Spanish bodegas and expanding the Old Perth range with a multifaceted rarity.
The whisky was bottled at an aromatic 52.4% vol. and is naturally non-chill-filtered and without added coloring.
At the beginning of the year, Morrison Distillers completely reinvented the Old Perth series, and now the third spectacular product in the range follows. Only the finest sherry casks from the Speyside Glenlivet region are selected for the Old Perth blend. After all, this series is intended not only to honor the history of the city of Perth as a stronghold of blended whisky, but also the venerable Old Perth brand, which had its origins shortly after 1900. Waiting is often a decisive factor for quality in the world of whisky, and the Old Perth 12 Years demonstrates this impressively. While the ageless Old Perth Original is already a wonderful drinking whisky for any occasion, its big brother is a full-bodied, very dense, and complex whisky. Its origin, Speyside, is not overshadowed by maturation in Oloroso and a few PX casks, but wonderfully emphasized. It was bottled at 46% vol. and is naturally neither chill-filtered nor colored.
The Morrison family is back in the distillery business. After the Morrison family, represented by Brian Morrison, sold the Bowmore, Auchentoshan, and Glan Garioch whisky distilleries to Suntory in the mid-90s, they are now entering the whisky scene as operators of a distillery.
