Glenscotia 15y 0,7l 46%vol. GePa Scotland Campbeltown American Oak Barrels
Nose: Richer colours. Broad and medium-weight with citrus peels, ginger snap biscuits. Sweet and with great depth. Apricot aromas develop then drift towards fruit salad. After a short time the wood comes to the fore and water helps to release baked fruit.
Palate: A complicated palate where the initial nose would lead you to expect plump fruits, what you get is a surprisingly dry element. The palate fleshes out as the first impact of the nose fades. Adding water brings out the caramelised elements balanced with the wood elements expected of a 15 yr old.
Finish: Firm and slightly dry.
The Glen Scotia distillery is located on the Kintyre Peninsula, more precisely in Campbeltown. Founded in 1832 by Steward, Galbraith & Co. under the name Scotia Distillery, it has had an eventful history ever since.
With its lively backdrop and the rugged Atlantic breeze, this coastal town has something magical about it. “Mull of Kintyre, oh mist rolling in from the sea, my desire is always to be here …” Paul McCartney sings of the wish to always stay on this peninsula. It is probably not only the mystical attraction of the landscape that is a good reason for that — but also the unique single malt produced here.
