Chairman's St. Lucia Brand Rum

In the mid-19th century, the Barnard family settled as respected merchants on the Caribbean island of St. Lucia. In the third generation, Denis Barnard took over his father's sugar plantation at the age of 21 and founded the distillery "St. Lucia Distillers" in 1932. As a pioneer of rum blending, he began experimenting with the molasses produced during sugar manufacturing. His philosophy of combining different distillates led over the years to unique and fascinating rums. In 1972, Barnard's distillery merged with that of the Geest family, creating the "St. Lucia Distillers Group of Companies" – since then the island's only distillery. In 2006, the company was acquired by SPIRIBAM. The brand "CHAIRMAN’S RESERVE" was founded by Denis Barnard's son Laurie. Inspired by his father, Laurie experimented with blending various rums from different barrel types as well as pot still and column still distillates. Through further aging in oak barrels, he created smooth, complex, and perfectly balanced spirits that are now considered the benchmark for St. Lucia rums. Despite their traditional production methods, the distillery is modern in terms of environmental protection, including bottle recycling and efficient wastewater management. This actively contributes to preserving the natural beauty of St. Lucia. All rums from Chairman’s Reserve are produced in pot still and column still distillation apparatuses.
