an unusual bottling for you: The Beast – Encrypted Rum. Dirk has created a rum that is powerful and full of energy. No single flavour note takes center stage; instead, there is a harmonious fusion of the diverse aromas. Dirk carefully developed this cuvée over several months and let visitors to the Rum Depot sample it without telling them what it was. The goal was to let the taste be perceived without bias and not create expectations in advance. Remaining curious and consciously perceiving the constant changes in the aromas creates fascinating moments of enjoyment. The tasters guessed almost every possible region of origin — the fewest guesses were correct, many were way off.

The exciting ester notes led to various speculations. And no, it is not the next high-ester Jamaican rum, but something much more refined and far removed from "the usual suspects". Due to the complex ester structure, it was clear that this is not just the next bottling, but something special. We have tamed the beast and put it in the bottle!  The rum has enormous flavour intensity and is surprisingly smooth; a second glass is therefore poured quickly.   All rums used have been aged for a long to very long time; young fresh distillates are not included. Since age statements as a time span are no longer permitted, we decided to do away with them completely and simply let the rum speak for itself!
