Nose: Intense sweet pipe smoke, followed by waves of freshly cut strawberries and candied lemon peel. Lighter notes of Neroli (orange blossoms), soft toffee and cloves.

Palate: note of dark chocolate and toasted walnuts, gentle tobacco smokiness, hints of caramel and dates accompanied by subtle warming peat smoke.

Finish: Long and evolving with cinnamon and liquorice wood, chocolate bitters and lingering earthy smoke.

Exceptionally intense sherry aromas from the full maturation in casks from the bodega give the whisky a full-bodied and fruity character that combines wonderfully with the classic Kilchoman peat smoke and citrus aromas.

Founder Anthony Wills emphasizes the exceptional balance of the intense sherry aromas with Kilchoman's characteristic citrus note and peat smoke.

Each year, Kilchoman Distillery releases four limited editions. One of them is Loch Gorm. This popular bottling is matured 100% in sherry casks. The 2022 release comes from 22 Oloroso sherry butts from the years x and x. Loch Gorm is named after Islay's largest freshwater loch, as Kilchoman draws its production water from the Allt Gleann Osamail Burn – one of Loch Gorm's main tributaries.

“Having selected casks that range in age from eight to fourteen years old, this year’s vatting combines both the youngest and oldest casks we’ve selected for recent editions of Loch Gorm. The freshness of the eight year old casks combined with the layered complexity of the older casks gives it a fantastic balance of rich, fruity oloroso influence which pairs beautifully with the citrus sweetness and peat smoke of Kilchoman.” - Anthony Wills, Kilchoman Founder.

In a modern world without borders, reflecting on origins, traditions, and old values can be a beautiful contrast. A philosophy that defines the independent Kilchoman Distillery of the Wills family on the Scottish Hebridean island of Islay – surely one of the most legendary whisky regions, captivating with its rugged beauty and wide sandy beaches. In 2005, Anthony Wills, the first founder of a distillery on the Isle of Islay in 124 years, had a visionary goal: to revive the original craftsmanship of "farm distilling." To this day, the fertile soils around the community of Kilchoman for growing their own barley, along with the quality of Islay's incomparable peat shaped by the Atlantic, form the foundation. All of this is what makes Kilchoman unique today. With the 100% Islay Range, the products represent the only Islay Single Malt Whisky that is produced "From Barley to Bottle" – from barley to bottle – locally and exclusively using traditional craftsmanship.
