was produced only from 2005 to 2013. 

The rum comes from the Ten Cane Distillery, which has been closed for over 10 years. It was launched in 2005 by LVMH (Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton). For efficiency reasons, production was moved to Barbados in 2013 and the distillery on Trinidad was closed. However, since the planned sales volumes were still not reached in the following two years, production of Ten Cane rum was completely discontinued in 2015. That makes Ten Cane one of the shortest-lived distilleries in rum history.   So why does this rum taste so special?  This single cask was distilled in 2008 from freshly pressed sugarcane juice using the pot still process. Back then, rum was still produced exclusively from molasses on the formerly British islands. Only years later did distilleries such as F oursquare in Barbados, St. L ucia Disillers, or DDL in Guyana begin experimenting with fresh sugarcane juice. Ten Cane was therefore somewhat ahead of its time. After distillation, the rum matured for a full 15 years in an ex-Bourbon cask, 7 of them in Trinidad and a further 8 years in Europe. Charles
Since there are hardly any casks left from the last Ten Cane stocks with tropical maturation, these are also quite empty.
