The Campbeltown Connection Springbank GS cask strength 2015 2025 10 y without tube 0,7l 50,7 % vol. Whisky blended malt from a 1994 Springbank cask, a 1992 Glen Scotia cask and ten-year-old Springbank.
Nose: sweet and citrusy, intense aromas of caramelized grapefruit, juicy, slightly bitter, syrupy sweetness, delicate, creamy, vanilla pods, pudding, comforting warmth, freshness and depth.
Palate: maritime character: a subtle saltiness evokes a fresh breeze over the coast, accompanied by a waxy texture that gives the dram a pleasant oiliness. In the background, a delicate hint of peat resonates - subtle, never intrusive. A complex, finely balanced aromatic profile.
Finish: Warm notes of sun-ripened oranges, a Mediterranean finish. A gentle paraffin note, freshly polished beeswax, present, pleasantly integrated, harmonious
A journey to Campbeltown - not only geographically, but in flavour too. With The Campbeltown Connection, North Star Spirits takes us on a very personal whisky journey. Is it a look back at its own history? Or an invitation to become part of it yourself? The roots of North Star Spirits go back to 2016. Founded in Glasgow by Iain Croucher, the independent company made a name for itself in a very short time - through strictly limited single cask bottlings, mysterious "Secret Malts" and artfully composed blends. Its uncompromising commitment to quality has been honoured several times with the title "Independent Bottler of the Year" at the Scottish Whisky Awards. With The Campbeltown Connection, Croucher presents a masterful marriage of three exceptional whiskies: a Springbank cask from 1994, a Glen Scotia cask from 1992 and a ten-year-old Springbank come together in a characterful composition. The combination of these distillates unites the best Campbeltown has to offer - rugged, maritime, full of character - yet with the fine elegance one has come to expect from North Star. Here, Iain Croucher shows his skill in maintaining perfect balance between power and finesse.
Below you will find the tasting notes for this unique creation.
Springbank: The flagship is simply called Springbank - and thanks to its legendary salty note, it is fondly referred to as "the Maritime one". Lightly peated and distilled 2.5 times, this single malt was first bottled in 1828 and is now available in ages 10, 12, 15, 18 and 21 years. Each individual bottling is a unique taste experience: in the 10-year-matured edition, for example, the aroma plays with the flavour of sweet fruit and honey and varies it in an inimitable way with a fine peaty note. Well balanced overall in flavour, with a deep yet unobtrusive malt nuance and an ever-present smoky note, this whisky has a long and elegant finish. Cask Strength. Scotland's oldest continuously family-owned distillery: Springbank. Founded in Campbeltown in 1828, always following the motto "The Work of Human Hands", Springbank Distillery stands for distinctive traditional single malt whiskies with different distillation styles and levels of smoke, all still produced entirely on site - five generations, one family, three whiskies.
