Nose: Intensely lush. Ylang-ylang, clove, artichoke, toasted walnut, blood orange, apricot kernel, cocktail cherry,  almond. 

Palate: Lively and powerful. Cane sugar, chestnut honey, tropical flowers. Vanilla pods, cocoa beans, subtle tannins, sandpaper, camphor, sultanas, dates, fine coffee liqueur 

Finish  camphor-like, fragrant (geranium) Long and robust. Cane sugar, coconut milk, honeysuckle, lacquer and mustard seed notes, light tobacco, lime blossom, peppery rose, coriander, walnuts, dried grape, dried straw, reminiscent of southern Spain.

Hampden Estate has been distilling rum in Jamaica’s Trelawny region for almost three centuries, the historic “Grand Cru” of Jamaican rum. The distillery’s heavy pot still rums are made using unique methods - and celebrated worldwide for their remarkably full-bodied aromas. Named after the Spanish word for vineyards in the Jerez region, Pagos is the first Hampden Estate rum to be bottled, fully matured in sherry casks.

The butts used for maturing Hampden Estate Pagos 2023 come from the famous Bodegas Fundador. Used in the solera system, the 500-litre casks held Oloroso Sherry for up to 30 years before being refilled in Jamaica. Hampden’s “High Ester” rum forms a perfect synergy with the Andalusian aromas. Notes of toasted walnut, cocktail cherries and dates, cane sugar, flowers and cocoa beans, as well as lacquer and coriander, unfold at 52% vol. into a generous, exotic experience.
Hampden Pagos is an aged rum made from Jamaican molasses, matured in former sherry casks and bottled by the Vélier house. Pagos is the name of the vineyards in the Jerez region of Spain from which the Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez come that were used to make the sherry. It is the first time Hampden has made this experience, and this cuvée is unique and an absolute must for lovers of Jamaican rum.
