Nose: colorful fruit basket, from light fruits to dried dark fruits (after some time in the glass), paired with molasses and a little chocolate.

Palate: dried fruits complemented by nutty nuances and toasted wood.

Finish: long-lasting, complex, and very well balanced. 

Our 15th single cask is a rum in the style of a Navy Blend with a modern interpretation. More than a year ago, we had the idea of creating our own "Navy Blend" that is easy to drink, meant to be complex, but not too demanding. At the same time, it also had to be affordable, of course. Today, a good 12 months later, the blend with 12 different components is finished. 

In detail, it consists of components from Barbados, Martinique (Rhum Agricole), Jamaica, Guyana, and Trinidad. The youngest rum was aged tropically for 3 years, while the oldest rum matured for 15 years (a large part of that continentally).   rum Club Selection

We are certainly aware that blending is a fine art. How enormous the impact of minimal recipe changes can be on the entire cask, and how this can completely alter complexity, depth, and structure, but also how much time the individual components need in order to ultimately shine at their best, is often forgotten. We had an incredible amount of fun with the blending process, but at the same time it also challenged us. If one week we felt, for example, that we were getting closer to our desired result, the next week adding a single component could set us back by weeks. In advance, you can of course create a blend with the desired ingredients and use that as a guide, but you cannot really plan for the influence of the wooden cask. The entire process once again showed us just how complex, but also how delicate, the interplay of the individual components actually is.

In the end, the time and effort are worth it as soon as you taste the finished blend and realize that it tastes even better and is even more layered than originally planned. For that reason, we are particularly proud of this rum and look forward to every opinion on it!
