Nose: oak wood, sweet caramel

Palate: dried fruits, candied sugar, dark chocolate, Jamaica's funky side, fruity components, 

Finish: long, velvety

luxuriously dark, refined velvety character.... From the magnificent mahogany hue and the aroma, you can already sense that this is a long-aged rum.  The impressive 20 years in ex-bourbon barrels made of American oak – 13 years under Jamaica's tropical sun, followed by a further seven years of continental maturation in Europe – create a luxuriously dark and refined velvety character. At first, typical aromas of oak wood and sweet caramel make themselves known. On the second and third tasting, however, it becomes clear that there is much more to discover, with notes of dried fruits, candied sugar, and dark chocolate joining in. Time and again, you notice cautious hints of Jamaica's funky side with fruity components emerging from the background, until the rum ends this nearly perfect taste experience with a pleasantly long and velvety finish.  In times when Jamaican rum is strongly defined by the level of ester content, this classic rum style has almost been forgotten. That makes us all the prouder that our first Long Pond bottling has such rarity value and tastes so unbelievably good.

For several reasons, Edition 59 of the RumClub Private Selection series was chosen as an exceptionally rare single cask that will make rum lovers' hearts beat faster again. 

The rum comes from the traditional Long Pond Distillery in Jamaica.  Among connoisseurs and enthusiasts, the distillery is absolutely respected and loved, but the availability of casks is very low compared to other Jamaican distilleries. To emphasize the rarity of this treasure: the rum was distilled in 2004 and matured for over 20 years in oak casks - from this vintage, only 2 casks have been bottled worldwide so far, and they sold out very quickly at the RRP.
The rum bears the mark "CRV" - a mark that was popular in the past but is no longer produced today. At Long Pond, CRV stands for the light style with low ester content.

The distillery was founded in 1753. Since then, it has shaped and shared its own unmistakable rum character with the world. At the same time, with its various styles, the distillery also preserves the heritage of former distilleries such as Vale Royal, Cambridge, and Lluidas.
Long Pond currently has a total of five pot stills available, of which only two are intact - the remaining three are already over 70 years old and are being restored.
