The "Most Awarded Distillery," Loch Lomond, presents this year's Open Special Edition to celebrate the 153rd golf championship - Loch Lomond The Open Chianti Wine Cask Finish 2025. This year as well, the distillery impresses with a special finish. The finishing in Tuscan Chianti red wine casks complements Loch Lomond's signature style of fruit, honey & gentle smoke with added depth and full-bodied red wine aromas.  The special Chianti finish adds extra depth and full-bodied red wine aromas to the Loch Lomond signature style of fruit, honey & soft smoke.  The Open Championship - also known outside Great Britain as the British Open - is the oldest golf tournament in the world still being played today. As a long-standing partner of this event, Loch Lomond creates a limited  "The Open" edition each year with a special cask finish. This year, "The Open" takes place in Royal Portrush on the coast of Northern Ireland for the second time, and the colour scheme of the limited edition also celebrates Northern Ireland's iconic golf club. This year's creation: a single malt whisky with a Chianti Wine Cask Finish, distilled in Straight Neck Pot Stills. 

The Open Special edition single malt exclusively uses whiskies only from our unique straight-neck stills, aged in American Oak casks, creating our signature fruit, honey, and soft smoke style. A range of hand-selected casks are then finished in first-fill Chianti casks, adding layers of rich, ripe flavours to our signature distillery style. The Open Special Edition Single Malt Whisky is non-chill filtered, to keep things just as nature intended. The Open Special Edition 2025 is crafted in the shadow of Ben Lomond, to celebrate the 153rd Open at Royal Portrush, Northern Ireland. This expression uses whisky from our unique Straight Neck pot stills and starts its maturation in American Oak casks, to create the signature fruit, honey and soft smoke style only found in Loch Lomond Single Malt Whisky.
