Nose: fine, creamy woody notes, sharply fruity, yet with great maturity, without its cask strength of over 66 percent standing out. After some time in the glass, the fruity notes of this rum become even more prominent.

Palate: very complex and wonderfully mature, the fruit nuances unfold into delicate notes of raisins, dried apricots and also prunes. We also detect notes of caramel, plenty of wood in harmony with gentle spice from pepper and nutmeg.

Finish: long, dry and again reveals wood, herbs, coffee and roasted notes

As is well known, Jamaica is the mecca of rum fans, with many renowned distilleries and great rum bottlings. But there are facts that are not as well known. Jamaica is considered the greenest of the Caribbean islands, with the famous “coffee mountains” – the Blue Mountains in the east. One of the best, perhaps even the best coffee in the world, is grown there. But back to the southern regions of Jamaica. At the level of Old Harbour lies the historic New Yarmouth distillery, whose rare rum is hard to find on the market. New Yarmouth belongs to J. Wray & Nephew Ltd., the producer of the fruity, intense Wray & Nephew White Overproof rums, which are bottled at cask strength, cold-filtered, and without added sugar.
