Kilchoman, known for its carefully selected and experimental cask maturations, is presenting a new wine cask maturation for the first time, fully matured in a combination of 19 French Maury wine casks. Maury wines are considered opulent and sweet, reminiscent of Port wines, but they delight with particularly pronounced fruitiness. Anthony Wills selected Maury wine casks with great care, as they have so far been used only extremely rarely in the single malt industry - an exciting and promising premiere. Full maturation in selected Maury casks gives this smoky-maritime Islay Single Malt an elegant sweetness of dates, raisins, and honey. This harmonises particularly pleasantly with Kilchoman’s characteristic citrus note and creates a balanced, multi-layered taste experience. Excursus Maury: The Maury appellation is known for its extraordinary sweetness and comes from the Roussillon region in southern France. Maury is especially known for its opulent, sweet wines, reminiscent of Port, but fascinating with significantly more fruit. The wines are produced predominantly from the Grenache Noir grape variety. They give the wine intense aromas of blackberries and cherries. Unlike Port, they produce a fragrant spiciness and pleasant sweetness.

In 2005, Anthony Wills, the first person to found a distillery on the Isle of Islay in 124 years, had a visionary goal: to revive the original craftsmanship of "farm distilling". To this day, the fertile soils around the village of Kilchoman provide the basis for their own barley cultivation, along with the quality of Islay’s incomparable Atlantic-influenced peat. All of this is what makes Kilchoman unique today. With the 100% Islay Range, the products stand for the only Islay Single Malt Whisky that is produced "From Barley to Bottle" - from barley to bottle - locally and exclusively using traditional craftsmanship.  Nose: Toffee sweetness and dark fruits with red berries and smoked oak. Palate: Intense sweetness and spiced dark chocolate with raisins, liquorice , rich peat smoke. Finish: Lingering sweetness and spices with integrated smoke throughout.
