On the Kintyre peninsula in western Scotland, there is a single-malt whisky distillery run by a family called Springbank. It is owned by J & A Mitchell & Company, which also owns the Glengyle distillery, the oldest independent bottler, William Cadenheads, and several blended Scotch brands such as Kilkkeran, Hazelburn, and Longrow. One of the few single malt whisky producers in Campbeltown, which once had more than thirty working distilleries, is Springbank, which received its license in 1828. Three different types of peated and unpeated malt whisky are produced by the distillery and sold to consumers.
