Nose: Notes of redcurrants, blackberries and red cola, along with a damp, musty element, provide an inviting introduction to this dram.

Longrow: Intensely smoky and heavily peated: Longrow is the successful experiment of Springbank chairman Hedley Wright, who produced an Islay-style malt on the mainland in 1973 - creating a whisky rarity that has been bottled once a year since 1989. Longrow passes through the stills twice and is unmistakable for its strong smoky note, created by two days of kilning with Islay peat.  Longrow Single Malt, incidentally, comes from a different line: the former Longrow Distillery was founded back in 1824 by John Beith & Co., but closed its doors again after only a little more than 70 years. In 1973, the legend was revived here and a Longrow was produced once again for the first time according to the old secret recipe.
