The Story of Don Papa

Don Papa Rum is a premium Filipino rum from the island of Negros. To this day, Don Papa (Papa Isio) is considered one of the few well-known heroes of the Philippine Revolution. But before he joined the fight for the country's independence, he was a simple foreman on a sugarcane plantation. The memory of Don Papa’s achievements in the revolution faded over time. Yet to this day, the harvested sugarcane remains a symbol of his reverence. Don Papa’s energy and tireless fighting spirit are captured in every bottle of this exceptional rum. This rum is produced and distributed exclusively in small batches.

The Land: The Sugar Island of Negros

For more than a century, Negros was known as the "Sugar Bowl" of the Philippines. From the mid-19th century until the 1980s, sugarcane cultivation dominated the region. This mountainous island with its lush jungle areas and white sandy beaches owes its fame to sugarcane. On the fertile volcanic soil, one of the most successful and sweetest varieties of sugarcane thrived. Historic estates across the island produced these valuable raw materials.

The Production of Don Papa

Don Papa Rum comes exclusively from the island of Negros. This premium aged rum is distilled from one of the world’s highest quality sugarcane varieties and matures at the foot of Mount Kanlaon. It is allowed to age for over seven years in American oak barrels. Afterwards, a selection of rums is carefully blended to perfection and bottled in small batches.
