Longrow 18y 100% sherry cask 0,7l 46% vol. Schottland Campbeltown
Nose: Notes of sweet barbequed pork and leather bound books kick of this dram. There is an earthy note hinting toward the peat influence, along with notes of nectarine and menthol.
Palate: The sweetness continues on the palate in notes of honey, butterscotch and parma violets. Hints of orange peel complement the subtle peat influence.
Finish: The earthy element carries through to the finish, along with notes of tobacco leaf.
Cask: 100% Sherry Longrow: Intensiv rauchig und stark getorft: Der Longrow ist das gelungene Experiment des Springbank-Chairmans Hedley Wright, der 1973 einen Malt im Islay-Stil auf dem Festland produzierte – entstanden ist eine Whisky-Rarität, die seit 1989 einmal im Jahr abgefüllt wird. Der Longrow durchläuft zweimal die Brennblasen und ist mit einer starken Rauchnote unverwechselbar, sie wird durch das zweitägige Darren mit Islay-Torf erzeugt. Der Longrow Single Malt stammt im Übrigen aus einer anderen Linie: Die einstige Longrow-Distillery wurde bereits 1824 von John Beith & Co. gegründet, schloss aber nach nur wenig mehr als 70 Jahren wieder ihre Tore. Hier ließ man 1973 die Legende wieder auferstehen und stellte nach altem Geheimrezept erstmals wieder einen Longrow her.
